Hamigos Partners with Plant It Forward to Support Sustainable Urban Farming

At Hamigos, we believe in the power of food to bring people together and create positive change. That's why we are proud to partner with Plant It Forward (PIF), a local non-profit organization that empowers refugees to develop sustainable urban farming businesses in Houston.

PIF secures land, trains and mentors farmers, and facilitates sales to local markets, creating a sustainable food system that benefits both the farmers and the community. As a Houston-based hot sauce company, we recognize the importance of supporting local agriculture and sourcing fresh, locally grown ingredients for our products.

Recently, we had the opportunity to collaborate with PIF on a project that aligns with our values and mission. We grew 450 habanero pepper plants from seedlings, which we then donated to the farmers at PIF. The farmers will maintain and harvest the peppers from these donated plants, and we will buy back everything that is grown. These peppers will be used to make a special batch of hot sauces that we plan to release next month, in May 2023.

Through this partnership, we are able to support sustainable urban farming practices and empower refugees to develop their own businesses and livelihoods. By sourcing locally grown peppers, we are also reducing our carbon footprint and supporting the local economy.

We are thrilled to be working with PIF and contributing to the sustainable food movement in Houston. Our hot sauce products are not only delicious and unique, but also ethically sourced and environmentally friendly. We hope to continue this partnership and inspire others to support sustainable agriculture and local businesses.

Stay tuned for the release of our special batch of hot sauces made with PIF-grown habanero peppers. Thank you for supporting Hamigos and our mission to create a more sustainable and inclusive food system.
